Instructional Technology

The Definition of Instructional Technology is:

Facilitating teachers’ education to students through the use of  computers, applications, and online curricula .

There are some benefits of Instructional Technology such as :

* Increasing education productivity .

* Increase the ability to reach students .

 * Increase the ability to improve evaluation processes .

Technology has changed education, as teachers use technology to change teaching and communication methods, enabling students to be able to communicate with their peers. Therefore, teachers must take advantage of the available digital tools and use them in innovative ways.

  The instruction stands for the development of knowledge of and beliefs .

 • Instructional technology means a network of techniques or devices .

 employed to accomplish a set of learning objectives .

 It is based on psychological and scientific principles of instruction .

• The origin of IT is from psychological laboratory experiment .

 The most important example of IT is ‘Programmed Instruction .

 The Instructional technology involves the following assumptions :

 • A student can learn according to his needs and capacities.

  (It means that an instruction cannot benefit the entire  student equally, however, it is good).

 • A student can learn even in the absence of the teacher .

 • Reinforcement can be provided continuously by the use of instruction .

 • The subject matter can be divided into its various elements and each element can be taught/presented  independently through this technology.

 • Students can be given feedback through instructional activities also, (i.e.) effective communication can provide feedback to learners .

Characteristics of Instructional Technology the following are the main features of instructional  technology :

 • Objectives of the Cognitive domain can be achieved by the use of this technology

 • The right responses of students can be reinforced regularly which will lead to further right response .

  By the use of this technology, students can learn according to their needs and speed (rate) .

 • It provides deep insight into the content structure and sequence of its elements .

 Uses of Instructional Technology :

According to the U.S. Department of Education, schools can use educational technology to support both teaching and learning by infusing the classroom with valuable digital tools, expanding course offerings, increasing student engagement, and accelerating learning. Instructional technology offers nearly endless  applications, but experts have identified three key areas where integrating technology can have a significant impact

 * Collaborative Learning

 * Virtual Classrooms and Online Learning

  * Real-Time Feedback

 Which means that Instructional technology provides better capabilities for gathering or providing feedback compared with more traditional methods. Teachers can use a variety of digital tools to gauge where their students are in a particular lesson

Technology in the classroom can have impressive benefits—but only if educators understand how to harness these new capabilities in meaningful ways. LSU Online’s Master of Arts in Education with a specialization in Educational Technology is designed specifically with this goal in mind

The program’s cutting-edge approach to technology integration, digital transformation, and online training helps teachers transform their expertise into innovative educational leadership.
